2019 is set to be the biggest Secret Santa Derby yet!

After the best Christmas advert ‘Man on the Moon’ hit our tv screens back in 2015, thanks to John Lewis. Derby Santa exclaimed “it really hit a nerve with me, and it was then, that really got Derby Santa thinking about giving presents to those less fortunate” and so Derby Santa got to work.

The mysterious Derby Santa started the scheme back in 2015, spreading Christmas love all over Mickleover.

After huge success in Mickelover,  2018 Derby Santa got in the sleigh and headed further afield to surrounding areas including Mackworth.

Talking drop off points with the Elves of Mackworth – Chief Elf Natallie, Elf Oliver and Chief Elf Kerrie

But wait ‘Ho Ho Ho’… it gets even better! In 2019 Secret Santa Derby really has become the talk of the town and better yet its trending! Let’s hope there are no episodes of being stuck in the chimney!!

Derby Santa and the Chief Elves have been setting up drop off points all around Derby since August; areas now include Mickleover, Mackworth, Hilton, Etwall, Littleover and Heatherton. There’s two to three drop off points within each of these areas.

Local Councillors and Community Police teams have even collected and wrapped presents for the past couple of years.

Derby Santa says, “It’s about giving deserving people a Christmas treat too”. I don’t know about you, but Derby Santa you have my heart!

With that said I’ve been one of the Chief Elves since last year and it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling for sure. The people and local businesses involved, the Elves and Derby Santa is just amazing.

I get my kids involved in the wrapping too. For some Christmas really is the most magical time of the year, and for others it’s also the loneliest. To be able to be a part of Secret Santa Derby is truly a privilege.

Farmhouse Mackworth will be supporting a local meet up point and providing some free pizza and salad for Derby Santa and the Elves in November ahead if the wrapping rush! Now if that doesn’t shout community spirit, I don’t know what does! We are on the lookout for a Christmas Party Venue…any volunteers?

You may have also seen pictures on Facebook or heard Elf Oliver over the last couple of days on Derby Radio talking and promoting Secret Santa Derby. If not, I will share his video again over the next couple of months. Oliver really does explain just how special Secret Santa Derby is.
