Ink and Thread is a beautiful gift shop in the Cathedral Quarter of Derby City Centre.

Emily Baker, the owner, opened the shop in November 2011 with a vision of bringing everything British to Derby by specialising in British made, useful and beautiful things. Located on the picturesque Strand this independent retailer is well placed to provide the mums of Derby with high quality gifts for him, her or even for yourself! Ink and Thread are offering Derby Mums members a 10% discount on orders over £25 when they present their membership card.

Ink and Thread’s range includes bags, jewellery and cards, home accessories, stationery and other ‘little extras’. All products have been sourced in the UK and designed by British designers from Fife to Brighton. Ink and Thread believe in celebrating British design, supporting independent producers and selling something different.

Some favourite home accessory items include the beautiful ceramics of Carly Dodsley, whose ranges are stocked in Liberty London, Fortnum and Mason and now Ink and Thread! Carly’s award-winning plates, mugs and jugs have a mid-twentieth-century feel with a modern twist and look fabulous.

Ink and Thread also stock a collection of quirky tea towels with bright, bold, colourful designs by Mr. PS. Prints include screenprinted ‘Fish & Chips’, Breakfast’, ‘Brew’ and ‘Going for Gold’ in bright blue, green and red.

Bags include a fabulous bright pink organic cotton tote, with an eye-catching peacock design by Peris & Corr priced at just £10. Greetings cards by designers such as Urban Graphic and Alison Hardcastle are unique and high quality.

The stationery range boasts a selection of funky notebooks with bright geometric patterned covers by Grafika, perfect for making to-do lists. Another great gift idea are Herb Lester’s mini City Guides designed and illustrated in a ‘witty, pretty, curious and opinionated’ fashion.

All products can be purchased either conventionally in the shop on The Strand, or ordered online and collected in the shop. Ink and Thread will alternatively post items if getting into the city centre doesn’t fit into your hectic schedule! Why not pop in and see what beautiful British creations they have uncovered next?
